The friend of the board

Sabrina discovered the ouija boarda little time ago. She found out the fantastic sensation of being able to talk simply with somebody who has already died or to receive signals from unknown entities. Truly, she did not believe that the entities could make something bad to her; after all, who already died cannot exceed the barrier of the real.

She bought the board in a small store of handcraft. She asked an old craftsman to produce it with fine and varnished way. Her wish was to perceive the light crystal glass sliding on the board when making her questions.

Alone in the house, she was sure that the movement of the glass would not be false. As in the movie “The Exorcist”, Sabrina had an invisible friend. His name was John, a teenager who had been murdered by his parents when they came back from a party, and they had imagined their son was a thief.

Every night Sabrina talked to John.

- Do younot feel alone right there? What do you usually do before I call you?

John answered:

- I am thinking about you.

- But I always come to talk to you!

- I am afraid one day you do not come…

- I will always be here. Every night!

- I am happy to know that …

Sabrina went to sleep. She slept as a child. The dialogues with John were similar to a lullaby.

On the following day, Sabrina woke up early and went to school. She spent six hours in the college, as usual. But she felt that something was wrong. She felt emptiness in her heart. Anguish. Willing to cry. She wanted to arrive soon in her house to talk with John. But she felt such a strange sensation as she never had before.

When she arrived in her house, Sabrina met her mother, standing in the front doorwith a black bag in her hands. She was afraid imagining what was in the bag. She knew the board was there. But would it be in perfect conditions? Was it broken? Sabrina felt desperate, when she heard the shout of her mother:

- You have to work, daughter!

Sabrina’s mother opened the bag and threw out ashes of the ouija board. The girl couldn ’t control the hate and knocked down her mother on the floor. Mother and daughter fought as two animals, until Sabrina held her mother’s neck and killed her:

- What a hell I did?

Sabrina felt desperate and ran inside the house. She threw the plates on the floor that were on the table and started to write an alphabet. With a glass on the table, the young girl started her ritual to talk with her invisible friend:

- John, are you there?

The glass did not move:

- I need to talk to you. I did something terrible!

No movement.

The glass moved in direction of the word “Yes”, and after that was put into motion to write the phrase “I am in the bathroom”.

The young girl ran desperately to the bathroom, with her eyes swelled of so much crying. When she openedthe door, a dense vapor cloud practically left the unrecognizable bathroom. The shower was on. The smoke starts disappearing, leaving a message written with the fingers in box of glass: “I am in the mirror”.

Without any reaction to that strange scene, Sabrina ran to the mirror. She was looking at her reflected image. After a few seconds her image was transformed into the face of John, crying and with the mouth full of blood:

- Why did you do that? The spirit asked:

- I do not know! She drove me crazy! I do not know what to do!

- She is here with me! She is hurting me! Help me Sabrina!

That was the last phrase of John before disappearing in the mirror. Desperate, Sabrina beated in the mirror, the wall and the door to relieve her hatred. On her head, she s imagined her mother strangling the poor John.

At a moment of final desperation, she he cried out:

- I will find you, John!

Sabrina caught a razor of her father and passed on her neck. The blood gushed out for the entire bathroom, spotting box, the floor and the mirror. But Sabrina wascalm. She knew she was doing it for her friend John. But before dying Sabrina saw something that made her feel terrified. Her last movement was the attempt of a shout, of desperation and anguish. Something more was written in that one box.

John cries increased in the ears of Sabrina, but the outburst sound transformed into a terrible laughter. Her eyes were red, her pale skin was covered of blood and there wasn ’t anything that could be done, only wait for the final moment.

Her body had its last spasms on the floor. The blood spreaded all over the bathroom, until leaving through the door. Sabrina’s father saw the corridor floor full of blood and opened the door to see what had happened. Smoke started to disappear and he dound his daughter laid down on the floor, with the razor in one of the hands and the other hand pointing to the box, where it was written: “I am in the mirror”.

As soon as he caught his daughter on his arms, and crying as a child, he looked at the dirty mirror trying to understand what had happened. He looked at the face of Sabrina, pale and her eyes swelled of so much crying. When hugging his daughter, the man dound out that something else was written in the box, below, with a trembling and lesser letter, he could read “my daughter” appeared practically hidden:

- I am in the mirror, my daughter.
