Director: Wes Craven.

Everything starts here. A girl (Langenkamp) and her friends (Johnny Depp among them) start having mortal nightmares with Freddy. Her mother tells her all about Freddy: he had killed some children, and their parents decided to do justice with their own hands burning him until his death. The scene when Nancy is in the bath and the claw of Freddy suddenly appears between her legs is worth seeing. The director Wes Craven made the best workmanship of the series.

A boy (Patton) is obliged to make a pact with Freddy in a nightmare: to kill under the assassin's control and orders. This is the weakest episode of the series, but it's worth for the scenes with the bus on the deserted way and the ones where the boy struggles histericaly, which makes us remember the story "The Doctor and the Monster".

Craven returns here as the scriptwriter and makes this the best film on the series. The girl of the first episode (Langenkamp) appears as a psychologist specialized in dreams and treats of some adolescents in a sanatorium. Great scene: Krueger transforms himself in a giant and turns a boy into a marionette, picking the flesh off his muscles. We get to know here that Freddy' mother was a nun.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 - The Dream Master, EUA 1988.
Director: Renny Harlin.

The argument practically does not exist: Freddy returns to kill the survivors of the previous film. What lacks in history is compensated by the visual effects; prominence for a pizza with little heads of children, the boy who is haunted in a cemetery by phantoms in carriages and the girl who was transformed into a cockroach. The director Renny Harlin is the same of Die Hard 2.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 - The Dream Child, EUA 1989.
Director: Stephen Hopkins.

A girl is pregnant and Freddy torments her. He comes back to kill her through the dreams of her baby. She discovers that the devil's mother was a nun who had been raped by many insane people in a lunatic asylum. Sonorous track and cenography are great. Scenes you cannot miss: the castle like a lunatic asylum and a way in a labyrinth of stairs.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare, EUA 1994.
Direção de Wes Craven.

The director Wes Craven is back ten years later, in this metalanguage movie that plays with the characters of the original film. Krueger now comes to torment the actress Heather Langenkamp (interpreting herself) and her family. The film brings a much more violent Freddy, if compared to the one created by the director on his first film. The script is very well constructed and allows the fan to know all the people responsible for the series that are backwards the cameras, interpreting themselves.
